Closed parks: Park closed due to storm damage

Mullion Range State Conservation Area is closed due to tree damage caused during recent snowfall. The snow has brought down a large number of trees which need to be cleared from the picnic area, walking tracks and management trails. Damaged trees are also creating safety risks and need to be made safe before the park can reopen.

Penalties apply for non-compliance.  For further information contact the NPWS Bathurst office on 02 6332 7640.

Fire bans: Solid fuel fire ban for Sturt National Park

There is a 'no solid fuel fire policy' in this park all year round. This park fire ban will remain in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and/or electric barbecue or cooker. Penalties apply for non-compliance. To find out more about fire bans in parks and reserves, including your responsibilities, visit NSW National Parks safety page.
