Closed areas: Muttonbird Island raised walkway construction and closures

Muttonbird Island walking track is being upgraded to improve visitor safety and Shearwater habitat, with 330m of elevated boardwalk being constructed across the island. 

Works will commence on Wednesday 12 May 2021, and the walking track will be closed until Thursday 20 May 2021 as materials are helicopter slung onto the island. 

From Thursday 20 May to Sunday 1 August 2021, the walking track will be open to the first (eastern) platform and closed beyond this point.

The walk behind Crystal Shower Falls is temporarily closed due to recent flooding and rock-fall risk.  Access to the Crystal Shower Falls bridge on the Wonga walk remains open.

The Diggers Beach middle platform is closed due to storm damage that has exposed the foundations. The structure will be assessed by an engineer and repairs scheduled.
