Fire bans: Park fire ban - Riverina area

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

The following campgrounds in the Millewa precinct of Murray Valley National and Regional Park will be closed from Sunday 11 October 2020 until further notice:

  • 1818 Bend campground
  • Cherry Tree campground
  • Douglas campsite
  • East campground
  • Fishermans Bend campground
  • Honeymoon Bend campground
  • Hooked Leaf Wattle campground
  • House Creek campground
  • Kangaroo Bend campground
  • Nestrons campground
  • Nine Panel campground
  • Paradise Beach campground
  • Pinch Gut campground
  • Potts Creek campground
  • Scotts Beach campground
  • St Johns campground
  • Thistle campground
  • Top End Beach campground
  • Walthours campground
  • Wire Fence Landing campground

These campgrounds are inaccessible due to recent flooding events and all access to these campgrounds is not permitted.

Fishermans Bend Road in Murray Valley National Park, Millewa precinct will be closed from Monday 12 October 2020 until further notice due to flooding events along the Murray River. For safety reasons please obey all road closure signs.

Millewa-River Road in Murray Valley National Park, Millewa precinct will be closed from Monday 12 October 2020 until further notice due to flooding events along the Murray River. For safety reasons, please obey all road closure signs.

Closed areas: Murray Valley Regional Park, Deniliquin precinct - no vehicle access

The Deniliquin precinct of Murray Valley Regional Park will be closed to vehicles from 7am, Sunday 18 October until 7am, Saturday 31 October 2020 for road maintenance works.

During this time the following campgrounds will be inaccessible:  

  • Willoughbys Beach
  • Loop campground
  • Memorial campground
  • Water Hole campground
  • Yabby campground 

The precinct will be open for day use activities such as walking and mountain bike riding. However, for safety reasons please obey all road closure signage.

Closed areas: Barooga precinct closed

The Barooga precinct in Murray Valley Regional Park is currently closed due to Covid-19. There are border closures in place and limited access to the precinct. Camping is currently not permitted at the following campgrounds:

  • Town Beach 
  • Dunns Beach 
  • Micks Beach, and 
  • 1904 Beach

 Ski Beach day use area is also inaccessible. For more information, contact the local area office on 03 5483 9100.
