Waratah Ridge Road is closed to all traffic from 21 February 2022 until 30 June 2023 as part of the Wartime Remnants Clean up Project.

Closed areas: Closed trail due to damage

Bicentennial National Trail is closed to vehicle traffic from Cameron’s Point Junction through to Moffitt’s trail.

No through access to Baal Bone Gap Picnic Area or Gardens of Stone National Park.

There are several large bog holes on the trail that are impassable to all vehicles.

This closure may be extended depending on conditions, and any extension will be posted as soon as possible.

Safety alerts: Roadworks along Glow Worm Tunnel Road

Minor roadworks along Glow Worm Tunnel Road are starting Wednesday 18 January until Friday 10 February 2023. The road won’t be closed however there will be traffic management in place to guide vehicles around roadworks.

Safety alerts: Trail condition

A majority of the trails in this park are 4WD only. Glow worm tunnel road is suitable for 2 WD vehicles in dry weather. 

Some trails are rough, have bog holes and some are steep in sections due to erosion caused by rainfall and flooding.  Take care and drive safely.

Fire bans: Solid Fuel Ban

A solid fuel fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect until 31 March 2023 unless otherwise extended or removed. The fire ban applies to all areas of the park. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Safety alerts: Roadworks: Old Bells Line of Road

Council will be conducting roadworks from the 23rd of January to the 3rd of February 2023 along Old Bells Line of Road. The road will remain open but the works may cause some delays. Where possible please use alternative entrance to the SCA located on State Mine Gully Rd.
