Annual trail maintenance and works will be occurring with heavy plant on the front access driveway of Koonaburra National Park.
This work is planned to start Tuesday 10 June and may last up to a week (Friday 13/6/2025), considering potential delays with wet weather conditions.
The Park will remain open however, please respect and acknowledge road work sign and drive to the conditions.
For safety reasons the road travel speeds may be modified to 40Km/hrs, immediately where road works will be occurring, and especially in the direct location of the heavy plant operations.
Access to Whispering Oak Campground will still be accessible, and available for booking;

Fire bans: Park fire ban for Paroo-Darling National Park
There is a 'no solid fuel fire policy' in Paroo-Darling National Park all year round. This park fire ban will remain in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
