This park will be closed to all visitors from Wednesday 21 October to Saturday 31 October 2020 for an aerial pest control operation. This program will target deer, goats, pigs and foxes, and aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 baiting - parks closed

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting an aerial baiting program using meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral foxes. The program will be conducted between Monday 28 September and Wednesday 30 September 2020 in Yathong Nature Reserve, Nombinnie Nature Reserve, Nombinnie State Conservation Area and Round Hill Nature Reserve.

The reserves will be closed during this time frame.

Readily identifiable 1080 poison signs have been positioned at trail entry points as well as other appropriate locations throughout the reserve.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Fire bans: Solid fuel fire ban for Paroo-Darling National Park

There is a 'no solid fuel fire policy' in this park all year round. This park fire ban will remain in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
