Closed parks: Park closed - bushfires

The majority of this park is closed due to bushfire activity until Monday 30 March 2020, unless otherwise updated. The following areas will reopen on Friday 17 January 2020:

  • Wollomombi
  • Apsley Falls
  • Dangars Falls
  • Gara Gorge and Blue Holes picnic area

Do not enter the park as it is unsafe to do so. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Continue to check this website for alerts and updates.

Fire bans: Park fire ban

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker.

  • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
