Closed areas: Pest animal control (deer)

Some areas of Bugong National Park will be closed for overnight pest operations (ground shooting) between Monday 20 March and Friday 30 June 2023. Specifically, the below areas of Bugong NP will be closed from 6pm to 9am on the Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings/mornings during these dates.

Do not enter the closed areas during these times. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

The program is targeting deer but other pest animals (including pigs, goats, foxes and feral cats) will be targeted if observed during the operation.

The program aims to reduce the significant impact these pest animals have on native plants and animals including threatened species.

The areas of Bugong NP affected by this closure are:

- Lower Bugong Road - park areas to the north and south

-Illaroo Fire Trail - park areas to the east and west.

Park closure warning signs will be erected at entrances to the shooting areas.
