Heavy machinery will be operating on Wog Way from Monday 18 January to Friday 12 March 2021. Works will be underway on Wog Way during this time to mitigate the impacts of firebreak construction during the 2019/20 bushfire season.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a baiting program using fresh meat, manufactured baits and CPEs containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Friday 16 October to Friday 16 April 2021.

The baited parks, reserves and state conservation areas include:

  • Araluen Nature Reserve
  • Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
  • Berlang State Conservation Area
  • Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve
  • Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
  • Deua National Park
  • Egan Peaks Nature Reserve
  • Kooraban National Park
  • Majors Creek State Conservation Area
  • Monga National Park and State Conservation Area
  • South East Forests National Park
  • Wadbilliga National Park
  • Yurramie State Conservation Area

There will be signs at all baiting locations.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

A weed spraying program will take place in the Nungatta section of South East Forests National Park between Saturday 14 November 2020 and Friday 29 January 2021. The areas affected include:

  • Nungatta Creek Road
  • Nungatta Road
  • Baelcoola East trail
  • Nungatta Creek

The weed spraying will aim to control St John's wort, Pattersons curse, serrated tussock, purple top verbena, blackberry, briar rose and thistles. For more information, please contact the NPWS Bombala area office on 02 6458 5900.

Closed areas: Detour via Waratah Road South

Waratah Road North in South East Forests National Park is closed due to planned bridge works. You can still access Pheasants Peak track head via Waratah Road South off Coolangubra Forest Way. Detour signs are in place around the closed section of Waratah Road North. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the NPWS Bombala office on 02 6458 5900.
