Closed areas: Wamberal Lagoon Nature Reserve intermittent closures for fox and rabbit control shooting operation
Parts of Wamberal Lagoon Nature Reserve will be closed within a date range of 6.30am, Monday 20 July 2026 to 11pm, Tuesday 20 July 2027 for fox and rabbit control shoot operations, preventing localised economic impacts and protecting biodiversity assets within the park.
When active, the shoot operation area will be designated by signage advising visitors 'do not enter' at any time during the night-time operation.
Penalties apply for non-compliance.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 August 2026 and 31 January 2027 in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
Do not touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a ground baiting program from 7th September 2026 to 25th September 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.
The program will take place in Wyrrabalong National Park, Munmorah State Conservation Area, Tuggerah Nature Reserve and Colongra Nature Reserve.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. Muirs Lookout Picnic Area on Prickly Ridge Road has been closed due to ageing infrastructure, obstructed lookout views to the coast and very low public visitation. Alternative picnic facilities are located nearby in Olney State Forest and Watagans National Park. Further information on other places to visit can be obtained via the NPWS or Forestry Corporation websites.

Safety alerts: Road Maintenance
Fire trail maintenance works are undertaken periodically, at various locations throughout Jilliby State Conservation Area. Partial and intermittent closures should be expected. Please follow the directions of any construction staff onsite and safety signage.

The section of Prickly Ridge Road between Watagan Forest Road and Cut-Rock Road is suitable for 4WD vehicles only.
To prevent further damage to the road and to protect visitor safety, please avoid this area and other trails in the reserve that are still slippery and potentially hazardous.
