The following sections of park will be closed to the public from 2pm Sunday 12 October until 2pm Friday 17 October 2025 for an aerial pest control operation:

  • Araluen Nature Reserve
  • Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
  • Berlang State Conservation Area
  • Deua National Park (West of Merricumbene Fire Trail) including:
    • Bendethera campground
  • Frogs Hole Nature Reserve
  • Majors Creek Conservation Area
  • South East Forest National Park (Nunnock Swamp section) including:
    • Alexanders Hut Campground
    • Nunnock campground
    • Postmans campground
  • Wadbilliga National Park – West of Wadbilliga

Campgrounds in Wadbilliga National Park will remain open during this operation.

This program will involve aerial shooting during daylight hours. Feral species targeted under this program include deer, goats, pigs, foxes and other pests. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.

Closure signs will be established at all visitor access points to the shooting area. Visitors should not enter the shooting area during the closure period.

The following parks, reserves and areas will be closed from 2pm on Sunday 19th October until 2pm on Friday 24th October 2025 for a pest management program:

  • Beowa National Park (Green Cape area), including Light to Light walk, Bittangabee campground, Mowarry campground, and Saltwater Creek campgrounds
  • Nadgee Nature Reserve (including Nadgee Wilderness Walk) and
  • South East Forest National Park (Nungatta Valley and Nunnock Swamp area), including Alexanders Hut campground, Nunnock campground and Postmans campground.

South East Forest NP - Main thoroughfares through this area will remain open. However, residents, visitors and members of the public should not enter adjoining sections of the National Park that will be closed.

This program will involve aerial shooting during daylight hours. Feral species targeted under this program include deer, foxes and other pests. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.

The closed areas will be signposted at relevant access points. Please avoid these areas and do not enter closed areas during this time. Please follow any directions from NPWS staff and authorised contractors.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Monday 3 March 2025 to Monday 29 September 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and/or foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species and will take place in:

  • Araluen Nature Reserve
  • Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
  • Beowa National Park
  • Berlang State Conservation Area
  • Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve
  • Bournda National Park
  • Bournda Nature Reserve
  • Coolumbooka Nature Reserve

Signs will be placed at the entry to baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands.

Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

The program will be ongoing and continuous from Monday 14th April to Wednesday 30th September 2025. The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Baiting programs will be undertaken in:

  • South East Forests National Park
  • Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
  • Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve

Jessops Creek Trail in Wadbilliga National Park is closed to all traffic until further notice due to significant storm damage.
