Closed areas: Temporary closures at Mimosa Rocks National Park

The upgrades will improve flood resilience, sustainability and visitor safety across four key precincts in the park including Nelsons Beach and Aragunnu Beach, Gillards Beach and Middle Beach campgrounds and day use areas.
Work will be completed in stages, and has been scheduled outside of peak holiday times, where possible.
Visitors can expect the following temporary closures:
- From February 2026 to mid-2026 Nelsons Beach precinct, including Nelsons Beach Road and Carpark will be closed to all public access for upgrades.
- From July 2026 to late-2026 Middle Beach campground and day use area will be closed to all public access for upgrades.
- From February 2027 to mid-2027 Aragunnu campground and day use area is expected to be closed to all access, subject to planning approvals and weather.
- From 14 October 2026 – Mid-2027 Gillards campground and day use area is expected to be closed pending planning approvals and subject to weather.
Alternative camping options include Picnic Point Campground in Mimosa Rocks National Park. Take the opportunity to explore some of the other great parks in the region.
Temporary closures may also occur outside these dates to allow for the works. Plan your trip and check for closure alerts before your visit at nswparks.info.
All other areas in Mimosa Rocks National Park will remain open to visitors during these times. Check for park closure alerts before you travel.

Safety alerts: Gillards Beach access steps closed until further notice
The 5 southern beach access points and the day-use steps at Gillards Campground are currently closed due to severe erosion. Successive large seas have removed large amounts of sand from the beach resulting in these access points being unusable.
Park users staying in sites 1 to 28 should use the beach access steps to the north instead which is easily accessible via a short walk.
Beach access steps for sites 28 to 39 currently remain open.
