Gradient

Flat: The track is 3m wide, flat and made of hard-packed ground mixed with rocky surfaces and some gravel sections. It may be uneven in parts.

Other barriers

Gates: There's a locked vehicle gate off Mungo Brush Road where the track begins. You can go around the gate to get to the walking track, but the gap may not be wide enough for wheelchairs.

Other barriers: The trail can become inaccessible after long periods of heavy rain when the Myall River is flooded.

Getting there and parking

Tamboi walking track starts at Mungo Brush campground in the Bombah Broadwater precinct of Myall Lakes National Park. To get there:

  • From Hawks Nest, follow Mungo Brush Road for approximately 25km and follow the signs to the campground.

From Bulahdelah:

  • From the Pacific Highway, take Bombah Point Road (unsealed) to the ferry crossing
  • Cross the water with Bombah Point ferry and continue along Mungo Brush Road for approximately 5km
  • The campground is on the right hand side shortly after Dees Corner campground.

Parking

There's no carpark at the start of the walk. You can part alongside the road or there's parking at Mungo Brush campground.

Fees and passes

  • Bombah Point ferry fees -

    The vehicle ferry at Bombah Point provides access across the lake (8am to 6pm daily, fees apply: cash only). Under strong winds the ferry may be closed. Contact the park office to check. Ferry fees:

    • $2.50 per pedestrian
    • $5.50 per motorbike
    • $6.50 per car
    • $6.50 caravan, trailer or boat trailer
    • $10 per 4 tonne or larger vehicles

Disability access level - hard

  • The walking track is 3m wide, flat and a mix of hard-packed ground, gravel and rocky surfaces. It may be uneven in parts.
  • There's a locked vehicle gate at the start of the track. The gap to get around the vehicle gate may not be wide enough for wheelchairs.
  • To get to the start of the walk, you'll need to cross over bitumen and gravel from either the road or from the nearby Mungo Brush campground carpark.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day.

    The park has coin/card operated pay machines at Mungo Brush campground. Day passes are also available from the Manning Great Lakes Area Office, Bulahdelah Visitor Information Centre and the Hawks Nest Newsagency. You can also pay for your visit via the Park’nPay app.
