Threlfall walking track and Gara Gorge lookout are closed from 10am Thursday 22 May 2025 to 8am Wednesday 28 May 2025 due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

Threlfall picnic area is closed due to upgrades being carried out.

These areas will remain closed until it is safe to reopen. 

The Blue Hole picnic area at Gara remains open.

There is no vehicle or pedestrian access to Threlfall picnic area due to works to upgrade the visitor facilities from Thursday 22 May until Monday 9 June 2025 at 9:00am. Visitors can still use picnic facilities at the Blue Hole picnic area.

Closed parks: National parks closed due to impacts of severe weather

Many national parks and reserves in the Coffs Coast area are closed from 8am Thursday 22 May to 2pm Tuesday 27 May due to widespread flooding and weather impacts. Many creek crossings, roads and trails are impassable due to severe rainfall causing dangerous conditions. Emergency services are requesting that people avoid unnecessary travel.

Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters. Roads into and throughout the park may also be closed. Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information and contact the local park office.

Parks will re-open as soon as staff have had the opportunity to assess conditions.

For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Hall Peaks Picnic Area and Campground is closed from the 21 May 2025 and reopening on the 29 May 2025 due to hazardous road conditions and inclement weather.

  • Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
