Park closures

There will be times when, in the interests of visitor safety and environmental sustainability, national parks and reserves will either need to be closed, or have access restricted. The reasons why this could happen include:

  • Wildfires and floods
  • Fire prevention measures, including hazard reduction burning.
  • Maintenance works
  • Pest control operations, including voluntary pest control programs such as supplementary pest control.

Please observe any park and road closures that are in place. Please note that driving on a closed road can lead to heavy penalties from road authorities, plus additional NPWS fines if you're driving on a closed road within a national park or reserve.
