Abercrombie Karst Conservation Reserve is open for pre-booked camping, some hard-roofed accommodation, and bushwalking only. Guided cave tours will recommence on Friday 2 April 2021. The Grove Creek Cabins remain closed. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Abercrombie Karst Conservation Reserve is closed from 8am Tuesday 15 June to 9am Thursday 17 June 2021, for an aerial pest animal control operation.

Closed areas: Notice of 1080 aerial pest control program

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting an aerial baiting program for the control of wild dogs and foxes involving the use of meat baits containing Poison 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate).

The following precincts / trails in Abercrombie River NP / SCA will be closed from 10am Sunday 16 May due to the baiting operation taking place in May, and will reopen 26 June, due to fire trail improvement works taking place in June:

  • All trails in Abercrombie NP
  • The Sink campground
  • The Beach campground
  • Licking Hole campground
  • Silent Creek campground

Bummaroo Ford Campground will remain Open throughout May and June as it is not impacted by the aerial bait or fire trail works.

The aerial baiting program has been designed to meet NPWS priority post-fire conservation pest control. All baiting locations will be signposted.

The aerial delivery of this program will take place in the following Kanangra Area NPWS reserves from Tuesday 18 May to Friday 28 May 2021:

  • Abercrombie River National Park and State Conservation Area
  • Gardens of Stone National Park
  • Wollemi National Park
  • Blue Mountains National Park
  • Turon National Park
  • Mares Forest National Park
  • Kanangra-Boyd National Park
  • Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a strategic ground and aerial baiting program for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The operations will involve the use of meat, manufactured products and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE’s) containing Poison 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate). The program will be continuous and ongoing from Thursday 31 December 2020 to Wednesday 30 June 2021 in the following parks, reserves and state conservation areas:

  • Abercrombie National Park and State Conservation Area
  • Gardens of Stone National Park
  • Wollemi National Park
  • Blue Mountains National Park
  • Turon National Park
  • Marrangaroo National Park
  • Mares Forest National Park
  • Kanangra-Boyd National Park
  • Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve
