Overview

Oakwood Flora Reserve was created in November 2020. It covers an area of 318ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.

Located near Glen Innes on the New England Tableland, Oakwood Flora Reserve reserve is in Gumbaynggir Country. It lies next to Guy Fawkes River National Park, and is part of an important, region-wide habitat corridor for wildlife. This habitat corridor extends east to west, from Chaelundi National Park to the Guy Fawkes River group of reserves, and beyond to Warra National Park.

The Guy Fawkes River group of reserves straddles a rugged landscape on the eastern escarpment of the Great Dividing Range. Here the Guy Fawkes, Aberfoyle, Sara and Boyd rivers run through steep gorges. Tall eucalyptus forests sustain diverse wildlife, with spotted-tailed quolls and powerful owls among the 25 threatened animals seen here.

About flora reserves

Flora reserves were established under the Forestry Act 2012 and remain State Forest. Under a unique management arrangement, this land is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. This is to ensure management is consistent with the adjoining national parks and reserves.
