Overview
Ledknapper Nature Reserve was created in October 2002. It covers an area of 47864ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.
Located about 100km north-east of Bourke, Ledknapper Nature Reserve is on Murrawarri Country. The reserve isn’t open to the public, but visitors can drive along the public road to see the reserve’s plants and animals.
It protects endangered ecological communities found in the Mulga Lands Bioregion and provides habitat for threatened plants and animals. Bird watchers might spot endangered bush stone-curlews, squatter pigeons, painted snipes and Australian bustards.
The reserve’s landscape is made up of both clay pans and red dirt sand hills. They provide an earthy backdrop to the striking display of colour from plants like the yellow grevillea, the lesser-known white spider flower, and the endangered winged peppercress.
