Gwydir Wetlands State Conservation Area

Overview

Gwydir Wetlands State Conservation Area was created in February 2011. It covers an area of 7399.58ha. For detailed park and fire management documents, visit the OEH website.

The Gwydir wetlands are an example of a terminal delta wetland, one of the few inland wetlands remaining in the Murray-Darling Basin.

Bunnor bird hide and Waterbird Lagoon in Gwydir Wetlands State Conservation Area are open to visitors in April and May 2019.

These maps give a basic overview of park attractions and facilities, and may not be detailed enough for some activities. We recommend that you buy a topographic map before you go exploring.
