Comleroy Flora Reserve
Overview
Comleroy Flora Reserve was created in January 2021. It covers an area of 2531ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.
The reserve is in Darkinjung Country, near Wisemans Ferry and Colo Heights. It shares a boundary with Parr State Conservation Area and lies across the Colo River from Wollemi National Park.
Together these protected areas straddle a vast wilderness in the sandstone landscape of the Sydney Basin, a wilderness that's high in biodiversity.
Comleroy Flora Reserve links up with wildlife corridors that run both east-west and north-south. The reserve features many different types of habitat and hosts a diverse suite of native animals, especially in more rugged areas where the landscape is better protected from disturbance.
Home to 14 threatened animals, Comleroy Flora Reserve has the type of habitat that is favoured by koalas and links up with areas where koalas are known to live. The sandstone plateau's bare rocky areas are also rich in reptile species.
About flora reserves
Flora reserves were established under the Forestry Act 2012 and remain State Forest. Under a unique management arrangement, this land is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. This ensures management is consistent with the adjoining national parks, which are also being managed for their cultural values and for koala conservation.
