Getting there and parking
Mermaid lookout track commences from the footbridge over the creek on the eastern side of Diamond Head campground.

There's parking in an asphalt carpark near the track head at Diamond Head campground.
Best times to visit
Crowdy Bay National Park generally enjoys a warm subtropical climate. However outside of winter the temperature can reach above 30C, so be sure to carry sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water. Drinking water is not available within the park. Winter days and nights can be cool to cold, particularly in exposed areas of the park.

Mermaid lookout track is a 1m-wide hard-packed ground track that's mostly flat and step-free. There is:
- A bench seat with a backrest where you can rest once you reach the lookout platform.
- Accessible flush toilets at Diamond Head campground, near the track head. You'll also find outdoor beach showers at the campground.
There are points where the track may narrow due to rocks, tree roots and plants.
