We are currently taking bookings for school excursions. Not all excursions are being delivered as per the usual program due to rules outlined by NSW Health. Alternative learning options with NPWS include online digital resources or incursions delivered at your school. Protecting landscapes Minnamurra rainforest is a school excursion in Budderoo National Park for Stage 4 (Years 7-8) high school students focusing on geography. Explore and investigate what makes a rainforest special and the connections to other rainforest, environments and people.

Students will experience a true rainforest with buttressed trees, strangler figs, hanging vines, epiphytic orchids and ferns and learn about the animals and other living things that depend on the forest.

Students will:

  • Take a guided walk through a rainforest
  • Locate and describe features of the rainforest
  • Acquire information about the geographical processes that shape this environment: atmospheric, biotic, geomorphic, and hydrologic
  • Describe the basic operations of a rainforest
  • Describe the interactions of humans with this environment, including Aboriginal people
  • Observe and identify management practices within the rainforest and understand their importance
  • Explain how individuals, community organisations and government actions contribute to the management of this environment
  • Describe the current use of this environment and suggest strategies for future ecological sustainability

  • in Budderoo National Park in the South Coast and Country NSW regions
  • Budderoo National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger. The park gates at Minnamurra Rainforest Centre open at 9am and close at 5pm every day.

  • Park entry fees:

    $12 per vehicle per day only in the Minnamurra Rainforest area. Bus or taxi: $4.40 per adult and $2.20 per child.
