Other planned events: 1080 aerial pest management program underway

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program using 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs. The program will be conducted between Monday 18 May and Thursday 18 June 2020 in the following parks:

  • Jobs Mountain Nature Reserve
  • Serpentine Nature Reserve
  • New England National Park (Majors Point area and Barren Mountain area)
  • Moount Hyland Nature Reserve and Mount Hyland State Conservation Area
  • Bagul Waajaarr Nature Reserve

There will be signs at all baiting areas.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Cottan-Bimbang National Park and State Conservation Area have been damaged by bushfires. Maxwell Flat picnic area is open. However, Myrtle Scrub scenic drive is closed until Saturday 30 May 2020.   • Cobcroft picnic area and walking track are due to open on Saturday 30 May 2020
  • Hastings Forest Way touring route is closed
  • Brushy Mountain and Plateau Beech campgrounds, picnic aeas and walking tracks are closed.
  • Racecourse and Coachwood trails are closed

  • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
