Ever thought of volunteering to go to gaol? What if there were ocean views, a sea breeze and every second person was a friend? The magnificent historic ruins of Trial Bay Gaol, in Arakoon National Park on the NSW Mid North Coast, are a significant heritage site. If you have some time to spare, we would appreciate assistance with cataloguing, customer service, fundraising, and cultural events. There are various shifts available 7 days a week. Volunteers are particularly needed during the annual 3-week springtime event Sculpture in the Gaol, for which induction, training, uniform and ice-creams are all provided.

Beyond the great view and crew, when you’re a registered Friend of Trial Bay Gaol, your entry to Trial Bay Gaol is free when you bring 2 or more visitors along to visit this heritage site. Better still, those who work there voluntarily get year-round free entry. Contact NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to get involved.

Saving Our Species program

Australia is home to more than 500,000 animal and plant species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. Saving our Species is a statewide conservation program that addresses the growing number of Australian animals and Australian native plants facing extinction.
