NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Friday 1st December 2023 Sunday 30 June 2024 . The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.

The program will take place in Bournda National Park.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Kangarutha Track - modified access

The Kianinny access to Kangarutha walking track is modified due closed areas for the construction of a pedestrian bridge of Kianinny Creek. Works will occur from Monday the 18th September to Friday 14th December 2023.

Follow all directional signs for the temporary access track and do not enter closed areas. Visitors will continue to have access to the playground, BBQs and some picnic tables at the Kianinny Park. Closed areas: Light to Light Walk

The Light to Light walk is currently closed between Boyds Tower to Saltwater Creek from late July 2023 until December 2023 to allow for track upgrades. These closures will impact plans to complete the return-walk. This closure will not affect Saltwater Creek or Bittangabee campgrounds.

If you're booking your walk through a licensed tour operator, you can expect that these operators are being regularly informed by NPWS, so that track closure impacts can be planned for and managed.

Please monitor NPWS alerts for track closures, be prepared to modify your itinerary while track upgrades are being completed and consider transport options to divert around closed sections of the walk.

There is a planned Hazard Reduction burn in this park from 06/12/2023. The fire is called Nutleys Creek Cultural Burn. Refer to the Rural Fire Service for latest information. Closed areas: Davidson Whaling Station - Southern Trail temporary closure

The Southern access trail at Davidson Whaling Station is temporarily closed to public access due to the presence of asbestos and the risk to public safety. Wadbilliga Road drive west of Lake Creek campground is closed until further notice.

This is due to significant road damage following repeated severe weather events and widespread flooding. Please follow park signage and staff directives and do not attempt to enter these areas. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Kanoonah Road in Coolangubra section of South East Forests National Park is closed from Myanba Falls Road through to the northern park boundary due to a major landslip following recent heavy rainfall.
