The NPWS Alerts page contains up-to-date information on park fires, floods, closures, and other management events, and should be checked before any park visit. Additionally, resources are available that detail current road conditions on the way to NSW national parks.

Fire bans, planned hazard reduction burns, and park closures are put into effect only after careful risk assessment by park managers, and are in place for public safety. Penalties apply if closures and bans are not adhered to.

NPWS works with the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and other fire agencies to manage fires and firefighting in NSW national parks and reserves. To ensure you’re as well-informed as possible, NPWS and other organisations offer information on:

The RFS runs a Bushfire Information Line (1800 NSW RFS), and offers a mobile app.
