Getting there and parking

The tour starts at Wattamolla picnic area, in the eastern precinct of Royal National Park. To get there:

From Audley:

  • Drive across Audley Weir and continue along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive for approximately 11km
  • Turn left onto Wattamolla Road, 250m past Bundeena Drive, and follow to Wattamolla picnic area.

From Waterfall:

  • Follow McKell Avenue to the end
  • Turn left onto Sir Bertram Stevens Drive and continue for approximately 9km
  • Turn right onto Wattamolla Road and follow to Wattamolla picnic area

There's parking at Wattamolla picnic area where this tour begins, including several designated disabled parking spots.

It can get very busy on the weekend, when parking might be limited. Think about car pooling to Wattamolla because the number of people visiting often exceeds the parking spaces available.

Accessibility

This tour takes place along a short walk from Wattamolla picnic area to Providential Point lookout.

The track is mostly flat, but assistance may be required in some areas:

  • From the carpark, the walk starts off as hard-packed ground with some rocky sections
  • The track then crosses an open grassy glade. The grass is mostly flat, but there are some uneven sections and potholes.
  • After reaching the end of the glade, there's a metal mesh walkway that leads to Providential Point lookout.
  • Nearer the lookout there are 13 stone steps leading uphill and 5 stone steps leading downhill before you reach the lookout platform.

There's a bitumen carpark with marked spaces and several accessible parking spots.
