Access to Tia Falls is along a 5.3km gravel road.

Tia Falls walk is a family-friendly track that provides the best views of Tia Falls and Gorge. A 1.5km return walk, with just a few short steep sections, it’s a great option for families walking with kids.

Starting from the carpark, you’ll head out along the eastern side of the gorge. Passing through open forests of stringybark trees you’ll make your way to Tia Falls lookout and then Tia Gorge View lookout, where you can take in the stunning view before turning around and heading back. Tia Falls picnic area near the carpark is a great spot for a snack or lunch before or after your walk.

While you walk, see if you can spot some of the local animal and birdlife, including swamp wallabies, wallaroos, crimson rosellas and jacky dragons. And in the warmer months, keep an eye out for brown and black snakes which you’ll often find basking on the trails.

    Tia Falls picnic area is a great family stop over with barbecue facilities, walks, and scenic waterfall views over the gorge country, just off Oxley Highway.

    Tia Gorge View lookout is in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park along family-friendly Tia Falls walk. It’s a great place to see Tia Gorge, near Walcha.

  • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
