Located near Bulga, Wollemi Flora Reserve lies on the Great Dividing Range in the NSW Hunter region, and is part of a regional habitat corridor for wildlife that links up with many valuable conservation lands.
Wollemi Flora Reserve is next to Yengo and Wollemi national parks. Wollemi National Park is part of the Greater Blue Mountain World Heritage Area and plays an important role in protecting Sydney's water supply and conserving biodiversity and cultural heritage. Wollemi Flora Reserve also borders on the Wollemi Wilderness, NSW's largest wilderness area.
Within Wollemi Flora Reserve the landscapes and types of plant life vary greatly from one location to the next. This variety creates diverse habitats, including rocky environments that host rich reptile life such as the threatened Rosenberg's goanna. Wollemi Flora Reserve is also home to 17 other threatened animals including yellow-bellied gliders, glossy-black cockatoos and giant burrowing frogs.
About flora reserves
Flora reserves were established under the Forestry Act 2012 and remain State Forest. Under a unique management arrangement, this land is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. This ensures management is consistent with the adjoining national parks.
