Barton Nature Reserve

Barton Nature Reserve protects a visually and ecologically interesting sedimentary escarpment on the lower western slopes of Mount Canobolas. The terrain in the Reserve is generally rocky with shallow soil supporting dry sclerophyll forest, typified by tumbledown gum and red stringybark.
The reserve provides a sanctuary for a diverse range of avifauna including, the Grey Fantail, Black-faced Cuckoo Shrike, White-throated Treecreeper, Red-browed Finches, Eastern Spinebill and Blue Wrens. Barton Nature Reserve also supports mammals like the Grey Kangaroo, Wallabies and Wombats.
Recreation is not encouraged and no facilities are provided.
