Other planned events: 1080 baiting program – wild foxes and dogs

NPWS will be conducting a 1080 baiting program from April 15 2017 to August 15 2017. The program is part of a regional management strategy to control wild dogs and foxes using baits containing 1080 poison. The areas covered in the plan include:

  • South Easts Forests National Park
  • Wadbilliga National Park
  • Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
  • Dangelong Nature Reserve
  • Kybeyan Nature Reserve
  • Kybeyan State Conservation Area
  • Quidong Nature Reserve

Games Bay fire trail is closed due to hazard reduction operations. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Closed areas: Boyds Tower viewing platform closed

The viewing platform and access trail at Boyds Tower in Ben Boyd National Park (45 mins drive south of Eden) has been closed because it is unsafe. The walking track and other viewing platform to Boyds Tower remains open. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Each month NPWS checks and replenishes buried 1080 baits along fire trails and some beaches in these parks. The program is ongoing and is part of the NPWS FoxTap program.
