NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting ongoing ground baiting programs in this park from Friday 1st March 2024 to Friday 31st August 2024.

The operation will involve the use of CPE's containing 1080 poison (sodium fluoroacetate) for the control of wild dogs and foxes. Some red meat may also be used.

The program is designed to minimise the impact of foxes on wildlife, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs and foxes on neighbouring stock.

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks and Reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Some parts of this park are closed for hazard reduction burning from Sunday 28 April to Friday 3 May 2024. The closed area/s are:

  • Punks Trail
  • Southern Boundary Trail
  • Eastern Boundary Trail – adjacent to Mendoran Road
  • Mendoran Road will be open with traffic control on Sunday 28 April through to Wednesday 30 April

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing aerial baiting program from Monday 22 April 2024 to Friday 3 May 2024. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs.

The program will take place in Breelong National Park, Cobbora State Conservation Area, Coolbaggie Nature Reserve and Goonoo National Park and Goonoo State Conservation Area.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program in Lachlan Valley NP (Hunthawang Precinct) from Monday 22 April 2024 to Friday 3 May 2024. Hunthawang Precinct will be closed for this operation. The operation will involve the use of meat baits and meat bait products containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.

The program is designed to minimise the impact of foxes on wildlife and on neighbouring stock.

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program which will include the placement of ground baits and the use of Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE’s) containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.

The program will be continuous and ongoing between 1 March 2024 to 31 August 2024 within Mount Canobolas State Conservation Area.

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Please be reminded that domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS Estate. Pets and property working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the reserve or baiting location.

Ongoing wet weather has impacted the roads in this reserve, leaving them washed out and/or under water for long periods of time. While they have dried out, access trails can still have rough surfaces and require maintenance. Please reduce speed, drive to conditions, and be aware of your surroundings. Heavy plant may be working in the area and care should be taken if you come across them.

Closed areas: Southern loop section of Federal Falls Walking Track closed for maintenance

The southern loop section of Federal Falls walking track is closed for maintenance from 8am 15 November 2023 until 4pm 2 May 2024. 

During this time the Northern loop section is open providing access to Federal Falls. Signs will be in place to direct visitors to the correct section of track to use.
