Timbarra National Park was created in January 2003, and covers an area of 1,772 hectares. It lies within the granite belt of the northern tablelands and the northern escarpment. The landscape ranges from moderate slopes of 400 metres above sea level near Macleods Creek, to the relatively steep country that runs in an east-west band through the centre of the park. Here the park reaches 1167 metres at Table Top Hill, near the southwest boundary of the park.
There are no visitor facilities in the park. Self-reliant visitors can explore the park along marked fire trails.
