Safety alerts: Road closure and safety advice - 4WD only and horse float restrictions
Due to deteriorated road conditions in adjoining state forests, Spirabo Forest Way is restricted to 4WD only, and is unsuitable for the towing of horse floats. Access north of Farnell Road is limited, so please reconsider your need to travel on the section of Spirabo Forest Way between Farnell Road and Tenterfield.
Access to Four Bull Hut should be via the following routes, which are also 4WD only, in vehicles with high ground clearance:
- Mount Spirabo Road from the New England Highway at Bolivia
- Ten Mile Road in the south from Deepwater, on Spirabo Forest Way through Capoompeta National Park
The above access roads remain unsuitable for towing of horse floats. These roads are unsuitable for low clearance 4WDs or AWD vehicles.

Mount babyl track is closed from Thursday 2nd February to Friday the 17th February 2023 for an upgrade of the mount babyl track.
Caution travelling on Cambridge Plateau forest drive is high recommended due to the trucks will be traversing along Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive to complete the works on the mount Babyl Track.

Closed areas: Bald Rock walk to the base of Bald Rock closed
Bald Rock Summit walking track will be closed to the base of Bald Rock from 8am Monday 9 January 2023. This closure is to support the installation of a new pedestrian bridge as part of upgrade works along the track to make the walk more accessible to all visitors. This closure includes the walking route directly up and down the face of Bald Rock.
Bungoona walk to the summit will remain open during this time, which is a more gradual climb around the side of Bald Rock to the summit.

Safety alerts: Ugly Corner Falls track damage
Ugly Corner Falls walking track is damaged due to flooding. Surfaces may be uneven due to erosion.
Please follow all signage and don't enter areas that are fenced off. Due to recent rainfall creek levels can change rapidly. It is unsafe to swim or attempt to cross rivers that are flooded.

Closed areas: Road closure
Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.
The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.
Please note:
- Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
- Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.
