Essential roadworks will be happening in Mount Jerusalem National Park from Monday 15 June to Friday 3 July 2026. The effected roads and trails are:
- Hughes Trail
- Middle Ridge Road
- Main Arm Road
- Manns Road
Roadworks will happen on weekdays between 7am and 5pm. Expect short delays during these times.

Please travel via Uki using Rowlands Creek and Manns Roads to access the following locations:
- Mount Jerusalem Central trails
- Unicorn Falls walking track
- Whiskey Creek walk
- Gidjuum Gulganyi walk
Byron Shire Council is currently undertaking flood restoration works within the Main Arm valley, expected to be completed by mid 2026.
These works include the restoration and repair of culverts and causeways along Main Arm Road, which is the main vehicle access to Mount Jerusalem National Park when approaching from Mullumbimby. Byron Shire Council have advised that Main Arm Road should only be used by local traffic.

Closed areas: Nightcap Range Road closed in both directions due to major landslip repairs
Nightcap Range Road is closed to traffic in both directions due to a major landslip associated with the 2022 flood event. The closure affects the section of Nightcap Range Road between Rummery Road intersection and Telephone Road trailer parking area.
Access to Minyon Falls and Rummery Park is via Minyon Falls Road only.

Closed areas: Tweed Range Scenic Drive partial closure & Brindle Creek Loop road
Tweed Range Scenic Drive is temporarily closed for Vegetation maintenance from 6pm Sunday 22nd June until 830am Saturday 4th July 2026. The Closure will be between the Pinnacle lookout and Bar Mtn picnic area, this includes Blackbutts day use area.
The below areas will remain OPEN and access will be from the Western entrance only via Lynches Creek road, Wiangaree.

- Forest Tops Campground
- Brindle Creek Loop
- Antarctic Beech picnic area
- Walking tracks associated with these areas will remain open
- The Pinnacle Lookout
These works are weather dependent and may be extended if required.

Please also note that Byrrill Creek Road from Tyalgum is open all hours however Byrrill Creek Road via Kyogle Road is also closed for major Council flood restoration works between 9am and 3pm on weekdays.

Closed areas: Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road temporary closure
Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road will be closed until approximately 20 June due to wet conditions.
Sherwood lookout and Murray Scrub lookout remain closed until the roads are re-opened. Iron Pot Creek campground and Murray Scrub walking track are only accessible via Murray Scrub Road from Afterlee.
Both roads are not safely trafficable in wet conditions and are therefore closed during forecast weather events and damage during the winter period.

Safety alerts: Damage to walking track surface
The Tallow Ridge Walking Track has been impacted by recent heavy rain events. The track surface has degraded with erosion channels and exposed tree roots. Track work will begin to reinstate several stair risers, and to remove a number of trip hazards.

Closed areas: Toonumbar National Park Temporary Closure
Murrays Scrub Road will be closed from 21 April 2026 to 5 July 2026 to allow for repair work to the road and drainage system. The road will be closed from the intersection of Murray Scrub Rd and Murrays Scrub Carpark Rd.
Murrays Scrub Carpark Road will also be temporarily closed for several days during this period for maintenance works – a separate alert will be posted when this occurs.
Iron Pot Creek Campground will not be accessible during works.
Visitors using Murray Scrub Road to access Murrays Scrub Carpark Rd should be aware large trucks and machinery may intermittently be travelling along Murray Scrub Road. All road users should drive to conditions and be aware of additional traffic and large vehicles.

The elevated boardwalk section of the Cape Byron Walking Track will be closed from Monday 20 April to Friday 31 July 2026. Pedestrians will be directed to use a closed lane of Lighthouse Road. Expect short delays.
The east-bound lane of Lighthouse Road will also be closed to vehicles from Monday 20 April to Friday 31 July. Expect traffic delays on Lighthouse Road.

Safety alerts: Beach access closed due to beach erosion
Coastal processes have eroded the sand dune causing a dangerous drop off. The beach access tracks between Mildenhall Cottage and Imeson Cottage, and from Partridge Cottage, have been closed until further notice. Access to Clarkes Beach is via Brooke Drive and the Pass, or through the Bawaii (Captain Cook) car park and rest area.
