The Diggers Beach middle platform is closed due to storm damage that has exposed the foundations. The structure will be assessed by an engineer and repairs scheduled.

Repair works are underway to replace 2 bridges in the Breinerville precinct that were damaged in the 2019/2020 bushfires.

Closed areas: Muttonbird Island raised walkway construction and closures

Muttonbird Island walking track is being upgraded to improve visitor safety and Shearwater habitat, with 330m of elevated boardwalk being constructed across the island. 

Works will commence on Wednesday 12 May 2021, and the walking track will be closed until Thursday 20 May 2021 as materials are helicopter slung onto the island. 

From Thursday 20 May to Sunday 1 August 2021, the walking track will be open to the first (eastern) platform and closed beyond this point.

The walk behind Crystal Shower Falls is temporarily closed due to recent flooding and rock-fall risk.  Access to the Crystal Shower Falls bridge on the Wonga walk remains open.

Other planned events: Temporary detour for accessing park via Moses Rock Road

If you're accessing Codhole or Platypus Flat campgrounds via Cascade, be aware that a section of Moses Rock Road in Wild Cattle Creek State Forest will be closed from Monday 19 April to Monday 17 May 2021 to allow for a bridge replacement by Forestry Corporation NSW.

During this time, a 6km single-lane detour will be in place from Moses Rock Road (via Welcome Creek Road, Tramline Road and Cedar Road). The detour will be accessible by 2WD in dry weather only, and will also be used by logging trucks.

There is an alternate route to Platypus and Codhole campgrounds via Moonpar Forest Drive, Bostobrick.

Safety alerts: New England Wilderness Walk - Not suitable during rain or high river levels

The Bellinger River catchment has experienced above average rainfall over the past few months and river levels can rise quickly with rain.  River crossings on the Wilderness Walk become extremely dangerous when river levels rise and walkers may become stranded.

Do not do the walk during periods of high river levels or forecast rainfall.

Check the Bureau of Meteorology for river levels and rainfall before setting off.

Illaroo campground will be closed for onsite works from 19 April to 15 May 2021. These works will include the road adjoining the North and South campground precincts. Vehicles travelling from Illaroo campground to the beach access which services Sandon Village will be affected while works are undertaken on this section of the road. Delays are expected. Onsite traffic management will be in place during this time.

Safety alerts: Station Creek and Pebbly Beach campground access

Access to Pebbly Beach and Station Creek campgrounds is dependent on Clarence Valley Council (CVC) and Forestry Corporation road infrastructure.

Information on the trafficability of these roads can be found here:

McPhillips Road is presently closed by Clarence Valley Council due to damaged bridge infrastructure.

Visitors will need high clearance 4WD capable vehicles to access Pebbly Beach and Station Creek campgrounds, which require water crossings. The suitability of these crossings may be variable and can change quickly dependent on local rainfall/tidal conditions.

NSW National Parks is monitoring foxes and running a 1080 pest management program. Baiting is happening in Yuraygir National Park from Wednesday 1 July 2020 until Wednesday 30 June 2021.

There will be signs at baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks. Pets and working dogs may be affected, and 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

These programs are run to protect threatened species identified in the NSW Fox Threat Abatement Plan and Saving our Species programs.

We encourage landholders to participate in control programs on private property. Contact North Coast Local Land Services to discuss and arrange programs. Delays may occur due to unsuitable weather conditions.

Walkers on Yuraygir coastal walk are advised that the staircase at the southern end of Angourie Back Beach has been removed due to safety concerns. All walkers should commence the walk at Angourie picnic area and re-join the coastal walk south of the mouth of Mara Creek.

Vehicle access to Doon Goonge campground and Shannon Creek forest drive is not available. The 2019/20 bushfires have resulted in major landslips on state forest, and two major bridges have been destroyed. To access the campground, use Quartz Road.

Closed areas: Grey Cliff stairs closed

The stairs from Grey Cliff campground to the beach are closed. The stairs have been washed away because of the large swell from Cyclone Oma. Visitors can't access the beach via these stairs.

Visitors can access the beach via the old vehicle beach access point 250m north of the stairs.
