Learn all about the beautiful shells that pepper this coastline with colour. Inside the pools, you’ll discover gastropods and bivalves – amazing shell-cased invertebrate animals – in their natural environment. Your guide will give you the inside scoop on these creatures and help you understand the important role of rockpools.

Rockpools host a diverse ecosystem that includes red, green and brown algae. Fascinating marine life also thrives in this fragile environment. We might find fish, crabs, limpets, seastars, elephant snails, sponges and seahares.

The cunjevoi or 'sea squirt' is exposed to the air for only a few hours a day in the low tide zone. You might watch the scarlet-billed oyster catcher score a snack here.

Look further out to sea for bottlenose dolphins swimming and playing in large groups off the rock shelves. Then set your eyes skyward to spot white-bellied sea eagles that hunt and nest in this coastal area.

Rockpool areas can be slippery. Wear sturdy enclosed non-slip shoes and be prepared to get them a little wet.
