Come along and see firsthand the positive outcomes of the ground-breaking feral predator-free areas project run by Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) and NSW National Parks (NPWS). If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a bridled nailtail wallaby, which was previously locally extinct. Now it’s being brought back from extinction in this special place. The threatened bilby and brush-tailed bettong are also protected here.
You’ll travel to Pilliga State Conservation Area, which is part of the largest consolidated block of forest and woodland in western NSW. You’ll hear from AWC’s field ecologists and land managers about the reintroduction program, and how the feral predator-free area is helping prevent further extinctions.
The full day event includes a tour of Pilliga’s fenced area guided by the AWC operations manager, a walk through the threatened species fenced area and morning tea.
If you have a UHF radio, bring it along. It's also a good idea to bring some camp chairs so you can enjoy lunch and the presentations in comfort.

Getting there and parking
The Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre is located on Tibbereena Street (Newell Highway) in Narrabri. The large grey building is easily identified by the giant yellow ‘i’.
