Capture sprawling coastal scenes on canvas or sketch intricate ecosystems in an ARTime workshop. Artist and educator Laura Kneebone takes small groups to quietly connect with nature by creating art outdoors in Royal National Park.
If you prefer bright spring and summer hues, join the acrylic on canvas painting sessions in the warmer months. These start with a 40-minute walk from Bundeena Wharf to an expansive view over the iconic Wedding Cake Rock. You’ll be painting crashing waves, sandstone cliffs and coastal heathland.
Cool climate artists can join winter sketching sessions. This tour meanders from the wharf across Horderns Beach and around the basin for 2 hours. You’ll stop regularly to sketch and photograph the mangroves and local wildlife. More than 300 species of birds live in the area, so bring a long-range lens.
You can bring your own art supplies, but all painting and sketching equipment is provided. You’ll head home with an artwork and Laura’s expert insights.

Royal National Park is open 7am to 8.30pm but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

Park entry fees:
$12 per vehicle per day. Payment options include Royal National Park Visitor Centre, vehicle entry stations, pay machines and the Park’nPay app.
Vehicles over 8 seats: $4.40 per adult, $2.20 per child (per day). Teachers/educational supervisors: free (1 adult per 10 students).
