Join your NSW National Parks guide to spot wildlife and learn all about the history of this unique coastal area. The tour starts at the top car park of Narooma Bar Rock Lookout with expansive views of the inlet, coastal mountains and Barunguba Montague Island. As you explore, your knowledgeable guide will provide insights into the local history, geology and culture of the area.
Narooma Bar Rock Lookout is the perfect vantage point to spot whales during their annual migration. With a bit of patience and luck, you’ll get to witness majestic humpback whales performing stunning displays of power and agility as they pass by the coast. Even outside whale season, you’ll learn about whale behaviour and how to identify different types of whales, including the endangered Southern Right Whale.
After taking in the views of the headland, your guide will lead you to the Narooma Bar. Here you can observe Australian and New Zealand Fur Seals in the wild. Watch as they navigate the ocean and coastline with ease. Your guide holds a wealth of knowledge about these marine mammals. You’ll learn how they survive extreme temperatures, travel great distances and avoid predators.
Don’t forget to bring your binoculars and wear weather appropriate clothing.
