Closed areas: Samurai Beach and campground night closure (7am-7pm)
Samurai Beach and campground in Tomaree National Park will be subject to an overnight closure between 7pm-7am for 3 nights during the Australia Day period (Wednesday night January 25, Thursday night January 26 and Friday night January 27, 2023). This will assist management of visitors during this busy period, and be enforced by NPWS staff, security guards and a locked gate.

Closed areas: Wreck Beach walking track closed
Wreck Beach walking track is closed due to heavy rain undermining the walking track causing significant damage to steps and landings. The closure will be in place for an extended period until repairs are undertaken.
Barriers and signage are in place for visitor safety.

Closed areas: Partial closure - North Samurai for Tomaree Coastal Walk construction
Construction work at the Northern end of Samurai Beach will begin in Monday 16 January 2023 for approximately 4 weeks. Works will improve access to the existing North Samurai Trail and include the rehabilitation of significantly eroded corridors. The works are anticipated to take 4 weeks and are being delivered as part of the Tomaree Coastal Walk project. During this time pedestrian access to and from Samurai Beach from the North Samurai Trail will be limited.
Contractors will use Samurai Beach to access the worksite – visitors to be mindful of contractors staff, vehicles and material.

Box Beach carpark is closed to vehicles from 10pm to 5am daily. The gate will be locked during these times.
Box Beach Access Road is also closed to vehicles during this period.
A fee will be charged for vehicles exiting after 10pm. Please call Certis Security on 1300 370 145 for assistance.

Safety alerts: Worimi Conservation Lands - caution
Worimi Conservation Lands is currently open to 4WD vehicles, but please exercise caution as the beach is recovering from recent high tides. Do not drive through sea water or whitewash, and look out for soft sand, erosion, wash outs and drop offs. If in doubt, turn around and drive back the way you came.
Please follow the directions of NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service personnel on the beach front, and do not drive over the frontal dune or any vegetation.

Closed areas: The Mungo Track detour due to flood damage
The boardwalk between Tamboi trail and Brambles Green campground is closed due to flood damage.
You will need to follow the detour on The Mungo Track at Mungo Bush. Please follow the walking track to the beach and then walk south for 4km.
Take the slashed management trail which connects the beach to Mungo Brush Road to re-join The Mungo Track route.

Safety alerts: Use caution on roads in Karuah National Park
Hobarts Forest Road and Tattersalls Campground Road are in rough condition due to erosion caused by recent heavy rain events.
In wet conditions these roads may be boggy and difficult to navigate in a 2WD vehicle.
Repairs are scheduled to begin in February 2023. Please use caution and drive to the conditions.

Lone Pine Road between Italia Road and Drews Road in Wallaroo State Forest is closed until further notice while damage to a bridge is being repaired.
The Common picnic area is still accessible by 4WD only, from Limeburners Creek Road via Callaghans Trail and Lone Pine Rd.

Closed parks: Corrie Island Nature Reserve closed for shorebird nesting season
Corrie Island Nature Reserve will be closed from Friday 16 September 2022 to Friday 31 March 2023 for the protection of beach-nesting shorebirds.
Corrie Island is an important breeding site for endangered little terns and pied oystercatchers. The island is closed to visitors for the duration of the nesting season to reduce disturbance that can cause egg or chick deaths.
During the closure period visitors may not land anywhere on Corrie Island, and only NPWS staff and authorised volunteers are allowed on the island. Pest control activities may be undertaken on the island during this time.
