You'll meet your ranger on the front gates and be guided on a special 1km tour, to visit the uncensored side of history. You'll hear about true and horrid crimes, including stories of bushrangers, murderers and pirates, and the brutal punishments of the late 1800s.

Learn about the German internees during World War I, and how they passed their time living in overcrowded cells. These tales are not for the light-hearted. Content includes sordid tales and gore. A highlight is the opportunity to experience the darkened cells reserved for solitary confinement of the worst prisoners.

Remember to wear closed shoes and a warm jacket when conditions are cooler. If you're camping nearby, it's a good idea to bring a small hand torch so you can return safely to your campsite after sunset.
