This trail is open to bike riders and walkers in summer and for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Fat bikes permitted year-round.

Please note
  • You can ride or walk this trail in either direction. Riders, please give way to walkers.
  • Take care on the first 3km from Guthega Power Station as maintenance vehicles may use this road.
  • If you plan to ride one way, it's a good idea to organise a car shuffle or a pick up at the end.
  • Fill in the free trip intention form and hire a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) from the Snowy Region Visitor Information Centre or Perisher Visitor Office.

The long, steep Geehi Reservoir ride via Schlink Pass is a challenging mountain bike adventure for experienced riders. Located in a quiet part of Kosciuszko National Park, it connects Guthega in Perisher Valley with Geehi in the Khancoban area, and can be cycled in either direction.

Best tackled in summer, the ride from Guthega Power Station is a solid climb up Schlink Pass Road through alpine scenery. There are several short detours to historic Horse Camp Hut and White’s River Hut along the way. Bikepackers can camp on the grassy areas beside the huts.

Schlink Pass is the highest point on the ride at 1800m, so be sure to stop and take in the sweeping views. After 11km stop at Schlink Hut, then travel along the valley for several kilometres before the steep, winding descent to Geehi Reservoir.

If you don’t organise a car shuffle or a pick up from Geehi Dam, it’s a further 27km ride to Geehi Flats campground via Geehi Dam Road, Olsens Road and Alpine Way.

In winter, fat bikes, snow bikes, or experienced, self-sufficient snowshoers and cross-country skiers can tackle this ungroomed trail. There are no snow poles marking the route.

Southern corroboree frog conservation project

An iconic endangered species, the southern corroboree frog, found only in Kosciuszko National Park, faces the grave threat of extinction. Saving Our Species aims to prevent this from happening by battling chytrid fungus, protecting frog habitat from pests, and fostering a captive breeding program.

  • The Thredbo-Perisher area is open all year, but some roads and trails may close due to weather conditions or park management issues. Kosciuszko Road is closed between Perisher and Charlotte Pass in winter (June to October long weekends).

  • Park entry fees apply on Alpine Way and Kosciuszko Road

    Winter (June to October long weekends): $29 per vehicle per day (24hrs from purchase); motorcycles $12; bus passengers $11.45 per adult, $3.60 per child per day. Find out more about the winter entry surcharge.

    Rest of Year: $17 per vehicle per day (24hrs); motorcycles $7; bus passengers $6.60 per adult, $2.20 per child per day.

    Passes: Day passes, multi-day passes and annual All Parks Pass available from NPWS visitor centres, local agents and operating vehicle entry stations. Single and Multi-Day passes are also available via the Park'nPay app. Short Breaks Pass: $68 for 5 days park entry at price of 4 days (not valid winter).
