Weather safety

If you're planning an alpine adventure in NSW National Parks, ensure you're prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.

Read more about Weather safety

  • Weather can change very rapidly in the mountains, and conditions can be extreme – a winter storm can bring wind gusts of 150km per hour and potentially one metre of snow
  • Check Australian Alps weather forecasts, and postpone your trip if bad weather is approaching. Bad weather includes an approaching low pressure system, approaching cold front, strong wind warning or severe weather warning.
