Sensing the rainforest is a Stage 3 (Years 5-6) school excursion in Dorrigo National Park, which focuses on HSIE. Students will explore the wonders of the rainforest - observing, listening, touching, smelling and searching to discover this special environment. It's a fun program for all ages, adults included.

Student outcomes

GE3-1. Describes the diverse features and characteristics of places and environments

GE3-2. Explains interactions and connections between people, places and environments

GE3-3. Compares and contrasts influences on the management of places and environments

GE3-4. Acquires, processes and communicates geographical information using geographical tools for inquiry


Students will:

  • Use geographical tools to observe and collect information about this area, especially intersecting and significant wildlife
  • Investigate how habitat can be managed for wildlife and find out how the area is managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service 
  • Examine how people have changed the landscape 
  • Hear about the importance of this Country to Aboriginal people and how they have managed this place

$235 per group (includes GST). Maximum 30 students per group. For groups over 30 conditions apply.
