Wander the sands of time with an Aboriginal Discovery ranger in Mungo National Park on this Stage 3 (Years 5-6) excursion focused on HSIE. See the ancient dry lake bed and walk the Walls of China with a representative of the Paakantji, Ngyiampaa or Mutthi Mutthi tribal groups whose connection with the land reaches back 40,000 years.

Hear the story of the remarkable archaeological finds like Mungo Woman (the world’s oldest human cremation), Mungo Man, and human footprints dating back to the last ice age tell an incredible story about the long history of Australian Aboriginal people.

Objectives Students will:
  • Explore the ancient landscape of the Ngyiampaa, Mutthi Mutthi and Paakantyi/Barkindji people
  • Find evidence of past occupation of the land
  • Listen to Dreamtime stories 
  • Observe archaeological evidence in the landscape and preserved in the visitor centre* 
  • Learn about some practices, customs and traditions that illustrate Aboriginal life and identity

*Note: Mungo Woman and Mungo Man are not available for viewing.

$450 per group (includes GST) for groups of between 15 to 25 students. Conditions apply for groups over 25.
