What is a national park?

What is a national park? is an education resource that supports the NSW Board of Studies State and National Parks HSIE syllabus unit for Stage 2 primary school students (Years 3-4). It provides information about the natural environment and why national parks are important.

The mountain pygmy-possum: On the edge is an interactive teacher resource for Stage 6 geography students. It includes an online Geographic Information System (GIS) to identify habitats for the endangered mountain pygmy-possum, and techniques to estimate population numbers.

It illustrates rainforest types, structure, and food chains within NSW national parks. ‘Rainforests of NSW’ is an expansion of the HSIE syllabus unit ‘Global Environments – Rainforests’, and has some excellent ideas for school excursions.
