Birdwatching in River Red Gum country

If you love birdwatching, Murray Valley, Yanga and Murrumbidgee Valley national parks in the Murray-Riverina region near Balranald are a birdwatcher's paradise - its wetlands and river red gum forests are home to over 150 species of birds. Keep watch for endangered birds in a strategically placed bird hide, or take your binoculars and go picnicking and paddling by the river. Keep an eye out for the endangered superb parrot, and watch like a hawk for night herons, black swans, yellow rosellas, ducks, falcons, cockatoos, tree creepers and kingfishers.
