Historic and cultural heritage volunteering program

Are you a history buff longing for an outlet? Have you ever considered volunteering as a guide to share local heritage with visitors to your area? NSW National Parks invites you to join us in helping to keep our state’s precious cultural and historic sites open to the public. Becoming a historic and cultural heritage volunteer will give you an opportunity to offer guided tours and share local history with visitors.

The site might be a lighthouse, shearers’ quarters, colonial homestead, schoolhouse, or stony ruins. Some are even World Heritage-listed. As a volunteer, your role may involve:

  • Meeting and greeting visitors
  • Giving guided tours
  • Sharing local history
  • Protecting and revitalising a site
  • Overseeing a museum
  • Collecting entry fees

Volunteering activities can be ongoing or scheduled around key events throughout the year. First aid training, guiding information resources, and uniform are all provided. If you’re interested, we look forward to hearing from you.
