Some areas of this park are closed because of a bush fire burning west of the Barrington Tops plateau. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. The closed areas are:

  • Barrington trail (south of Scone Gloucester Road)
  • Little Murray campground
  • Junction Pools campground

Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park

Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It has been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.

Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.

Closed areas: No vehicle access to Mount Barrington

There is no vehicle access to the final 5km of Barrington trail, beyond the Junction Pools turn, due to safety issues caused by deteriorating trail conditions. Visitors can still access Junction Pools and Little Murray campgrounds. Visitors can also access Mount Barrington on foot or by bicycle. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
