Other planned events: 1080 wild dog control program

An 1080 poison wild dog program will commence from Monday 8 May until Monday 29 May 2017 in Hat Head National Park. The main trails included in the program are:

  • Kilmores trail
  • Honey Talk trail
  • Russells trail. 

Park signage will be erected at the entrances to Hat Head National Park. Public are reminded that no domestic pets are allowed in the national park and 1080 poison baits will be in the area.

Other planned events: Point Plomer sewage upgrade works

Some minor areas of Point Plomer campground will be closed due to a sewage upgrade. Site preparation will begin on Friday 19 May 2017 and main excavation will begin Thursday 25 May 2017. The sewage works will continue for a couple of months. The main toilet is still in use, with minimal disruption to visitors.

Closed areas: Laggers Point boat ramp upgrade - some areas closed

Some areas of this park are closed due to an upgrade to Laggers Point boat ramp and surrounding access. The closed areas and timeframes are:

  • Quarry Road (beyond the boat ramp) closed from Monday 15 May to around the end of June 2017 or until works are complete
  • Laggers Point boat ramp closed Monday 15 May to Monday 29 May 2017
  • Trial Bay campground sites 17 to 28 closed Monday 15 May to Monday 29 May 2017.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct aerial baiting for wild dog control using 1080 poisoned baits through the following reserves starting on 23 May 2017:

  • Guy Fawkes River National Park and Nature Reserve
  • Cathedral Rocks National Park
  • Serpentine Nature Reserve
  • New England National Park
  • Jobs Mountain Nature Reserve
